"I never thought I had much of a family. Mom ran out on me and Dad when Janey was just a tiny baby. My uncle and his wife always looked down on Dad and me and called my Mom a 'tramp'. My Grampa Isaac was a good guy, but kind of a holy roller - it was hard to talk to him about the things that really interested me, like history or dinosaurs or boxing and sword-fighting. Just about everything I said he would answer with a sermon.
I always called my sister Janey 'Brat' and teased her. I was the worst brother in the world. But when I think about anything bad happening to her now it's like someone kicked me in the chest. I just want to know she's ok and have another chance to protect her. In a good Fort like this one, I think I'd stand a fair chance."
