"My wife and I spent our lives ministering and providing medical care to the poor. Wherever we went, I built a small clinic and she worked beside me as a nurse. Naturally we tried to bring the Word to the people, along with offering our service for their health and wellbeing. But in the course of explaining our own beliefs we also learned a great deal about the native beliefs of the region.
Many people believe in zombies, the world over. In Africa, the Caribbean, South America, there is a strong belief in the powers of black magic and the ability of evil sorcerers to enslave the dead. I had seen a few things which disturbed me over the years, particularly in Haiti and West Africa. But I had put it down to the power of suggestion. Long hours, heat, fever, and the natural pain and doubt which any Christian must feel when confronted by so much suffering and death - it was only natural.
Looking back I am simply grateful that Annette passed before she could see such dark times. The End of Days is upon us, son. Those of us left behind will fight to the finish against the powers of the Adversary."
